Grumpy about quitting smoking?

Hey! I'm curious about something. What have changed the most in your life after you quit smoking?

I quit smoking for the second time in my life at new year's Eve! Seriously, 31/12/19 was the last day I smoked. That's the inspiration for the Grumpy Guide to Quit Smoking, out now on Amazon

For me, it has definitely to be the fact that I never smoked indoors - I always had to go outside to have a fag.

I have lived in for European countries so far, and France - the current one - is the most similar to Brazil at this point because you can find buildings with a door on the corridor where you can throw away the litter - you don't need to get to the ground floor and take the litter to the back of the building, like in UK, in Portugal and in Spain.

Now that I'm not smoking anymore, I'm also not taking the litter out so regularly and it the big grey bags accumulate at an astonishing rate!

Count your blessings and all that?

Grumpy Guide news!

Hi, this is my first post on this blog here which (I hope) will also simultaneously appear on my Blogger blog and on GoodReads.

I have just self-published my first book on Amazon. After a bumpy start, things look much better shaped! For instance, until a few days ago, readers could not buy The Grumpy Guide to Quit Smoking on Kindle format from the UK, or the paperback version in Brazil.

Good news for readers in UK: it's cheaper than else where, Kindle option is back on the book's page and, if you have a Kindle Unlimited, this book is free! I don't know for how long, though! Is it always for free on Kindle Unlimited? Is it for a certain amount of time? Anyway, it's a short book and a fast read! x

The Grumpy Guide to Quit Smoking, by Andreia Nobre

The Grumpy Guide To Quit Smoking

Andreia Nobre was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1977, and finished Journalism School in 2003 at University Estacio de Sa. She started writing poetry at 10, and went on to write short tales. After graduating, worked as a freelance Journalist, writing pieces for online magazines like Brazil Post (Huffington Post Blog) and QG Feminista).

She lived in Portugal, Scotland and Spain before moving to France. In UK, she came into contact with stand-up comedy, and since then she started writing humour content as well. Her first published book, The Grumpy Guide to Quit Smoking, was written after she succeed to quit smoking for a second time.

Description:

There are many ways to quit smoking. But what is a person to do when they are... the grumpy kind? The Grumpy Guide is a short tale about how cranky people can quit smoking too, while remaining blissfully moaning. It must be a joke. But it's cheaper that a packet of cigarettes.

It’s a “lighter” decision for some. It may all be up in smoke. All puns intended.

Available on Amazon for Kindle or in Paperback

A feminista

Quando nasci, fui condenada
A uma existência estéril
Histérica, gaslihgted, abusada
Eternamente subjugada

Proibida de me aceitar
Seu corpo é sujo
Sua ideia é enganosa
Você tem que se odiar
Compre os nossos produtos
E aprenda a se amar

Proibida de me projetar
Seu futuro está claro
Faça esse trabalho
E não o que você quer fazer
Não é bonito, Não é feminino
Você não tem querer

Proibida de me reproduzir
Corte meu corpo, você não pode parir
Parir é sujo, parir é um perigo
Amamentar é nojento
Amamentar é trabalhoso
Amamentar tanto tempo é perigoso
Devolva os seios ao marido

Proibida de me expressar
Cala-se, respeite minha opinião
O médico estudou anos
O marido sabe melhor
Todos querem o nosso bem
Ninguém quer partir meu coração

Quando nasci, fui exterminada
Esterilizada, emasculada
Desempoderada, desenganada
Por essa eterna ingratidão

Minha imagem

Meu armário tem duas portas corrediças
Cobertas por espelhos
E um dia deixei as portas sobrepostas
E sentei na cama
De frente para a abertura
De onde eu estava
Não podia me ver
Já que o espelho estava
Onde eu não podia alcançar
Só se me mexesse
E me colocasse em outro lugar
E senti falta de me ver
Senti falta da minha imagem
Só via a outra metade da cama
E havia me tornado invisível sem querer
Como na vida que levava
Preciso me levantar
Fechar essa porta
E me olhar no espelho
Ver como sou bonita
Como ainda existo

Quando me calo

Quando me calo, consinto com sua fala
Sua sala de espelhos repletos de imanges tortas

Quando te comportas vejo um rio de falsas atitudes
E vicissitudes amiúde o meu sofrer

E no meu entender me faço gente
Rente, quente e fremente de ardente paixão

E de paixão se fazem os sonhos risonhos
Enfadonhos de tanta felicidade

E na felicidade se esconde o cinismo
O modismo, o realismo, o facismo

Quem precisa do triste, fica em riste
à espera do deslize necessário

O belizário conta o conto dormente
Demente, sedento, escorrendo

Quando me calo meu medo me mata
E nessa morte eu vivo há muito tempo...

A busca do meu eu

Onde esta o meu alento
A minha forca, o meu tempo?
Aonde foi minha vitoria
Minha alegria, a minha historia?
Por que so me resta este naco
Este pouco de esperanca
Este reles fato?
Me prometeram autonomia
Liberdade e engrandecimento
Mas so recebi letargia
Impunidade e constrangimento
Busco o meu eu
Aquele ser para chamar de meu
Se algum dia eu o encontrar
Talvez eu tambem o deixe escapar
Porque de tirania e usura
Ja me basta na atual conjectura
